It is undeniable that the story of Ipar Adalah Maut has opened the eyes of many people about the normalization of living with married family members—that this is not justified, even since the Prophet Muhammad SAW said in a hadith. Behind the success of this film, actress Michelle Ziudith who played Nisa apparently felt the burden of being Nisa who was cheated on by her own biological sister. Here, Mytha Lestari will have a deep talk about Michelle Ziudith’s ex, open up topics about relationships, and the film Ipar Adalah Maut.
From Michelle Ziudith’s Ex to Becoming Nisa in the Film Ipar Adalah Maut: Deep Talk by Michelle Ziudith and Mytha Lestari
The film Ipar Adalah Maut has certainly provided a new perspective not only for the audience but also for the cast. For example, actress Michelle Ziudith became more aware of a relationship and saw more that infidelity can happen to anyone and anywhere—not to mention between in-laws.
Therefore, listen to Mytha Lestari’s deep talk about relationships, Michelle Ziudith’s ex, and the discussion about the film Ipar Adalah Maut!

Have you ever been betrayed in your previous relationship?
Mytha Lestari: “Absolutely. We are all human beings who have been betrayed, that’s why we are smarter in choosing partners.”

What do you think about the character Nisa who was treated inappropriately? After playing Nisa, did you have any trauma in choosing a partner?
Michelle Ziudith: “Yes, what Nisa experienced was inappropriate. Nisa was too kind so she didn’t deserve to be treated like that. This is something that when we give love and affection, we can’t control how much we want. We love our partners 100% but the inappropriate treatment suddenly happens and no one knows how lucky we are to get it, or not feel it at all.”
After singing the song ‘Tak Pantas,’ did you think about your inappropriate relationship again?
Mytha Lestari: “In my opinion, ‘Tak Pantas’ really matches the film. Initially, ‘Tak Pantas’ had a score of 8 in my life and made me even sadder. But, when I watched the film, I immediately called my husband and wanted to have a deep talk about relationships. So, what I’m really afraid of is that people who watch Ipar Adalah Maut will have deep talks with their partners. Maybe that’s gonna be a great opportunity, for those of you who are in a relationship. And many women turn off their instincts.”
Have you ever been in a relationship that should have ended but forced to stay together?
Michelle Ziudith: “Maybe the red flag came from my mother. If my mother didn’t like it, I should have stopped there. The answer was a year later, 6 months later, it turned out that this person was up to something. It turned out to be true, until now, if my mother says this and that about a partner, I will follow it.”
What made you heal from your past relationship and finally be happy with your current family?
Mytha Lestari: “It took me 5 years to move on from my ex because I don’t trust anyone. Because at that time I was also young, so I was angry because my mother was the one who told me to break up. In the end, I didn’t date until I met a new boyfriend—only 9 months—and broke up. After that, I met my current husband.”
Michelle Ziudith: “I also had a different religion with my ex. And it took a long time to move on.”

Have you ever been treated inappropriately by your partner before? Like being betrayed, cheated on, and others?
Michelle Ziudith: “More like being cheated on, it’s happened. Maybe because it’s so easy that you can’t see the signs and the big storms. Pure love, you know. Being betrayed might be like—you say yes to what I tell you, but you don’t do it. Lying is betrayal in my opinion because I try on my own. He just says yes to me so I’ll keep quiet, but he doesn’t do it.”

What do you think a healthy marriage is like? Also please share tips for family harmony!
Mytha Lestari: “If you have a problem, you can talk about it anytime, because my husband and I talk about anything. Sometimes when we see someone handsome and pretty, we like to say that they are good-looking too. We are really best friends. We were originally best friends. When I asked for permission from my parents, I said, I want to ask permission to marry my best friend. And if you don’t marry your own best friend, make your couple as your best friend. You have to respect him as a husband, but also as a best friend, so that he doesn’t step on us. Because as best friends too, we definitely respect each other.”
Is there an ideal type for your future life partner?
Michelle Ziudith: “Not a grandiose ideal type, the important thing is that he can be my close friend. If he’s like Mas Aris, he’s too perfect and many people dream of him. I actually picked what other people don’t want.”
Learning from the film Ipar Adalah Maut, is it appropriate for a sister-in-law to live with us?
Mytha Lestari: “I just got lectured by my mother-in-law because she found out I sang a song for the title Ipar Adalah Maut. I told everyone about the film. Until my mother-in-law said, “That’s why it’s clear in religion, why a sister-in-law is death, there’s a verse. So it’s in the hadith. Don’t ask your friends to stay overnight at home, your younger siblings aren’t allowed either. It’s okay for mahrams to stay.”

What was your first impression when listening to the song ‘Tak Pantas’ since this song is from Nisa’s POV?
Michelle Ziudith: “I heard the lyrics before the song finished, like, “Why?” These words are really relatable! As a character, I don’t like my husband’s condition being fine, but it turns out his faith isn’t that strong. What’s wrong with me? I keep testing his faith. When I heard the song, I felt like Nisa was the one who was wrong.”
Wow, it turns out that Michelle Ziudith and Mytha Lestari were betrayed by their respective exes, and related to the soundtrack of Ipar Adalah Maut ‘Tak Pantas,’ hurtful treatment is never considered appropriate. Just like Nisa in the film Ipar Adalah Maut who was betrayed by Aris because he cheated on her with Nisa’s younger sibling. Playing Nisa also made Michelle Ziudith more aware of relationships.
