From the movie Ayo Putus continuing to the movie Ayo Balikan, Syifa Hadju and Bryan Domani return to acting with fan-favorite characters—Selatan and Alma. In the version of the Ayo Balikan movie, a new face, Ciccio Manaserro, is cast as Eden, the stepbrother of Alma. His heart needs to be won over by Selatan to get Alma’s love again. What was the character that Ciccio Manassero played in the movie Ayo Balikan like?
Ciccio Manassero: “I play Eden. Eden is the half-brother of Alma, who is played by Syifa Hadju. The story is the same—his father passed away—the same father as Alma. When he found out that his mother and father had passed away, he had a conflict with them and was left with a will revealing that he had a younger sister. So, he’s entrusted with his sister. So, Eden is a figure meant to care for Alma and her Mother, stepping in as a father figure. The background of the character is quite tough, very manly, because his background is that he is an MMA fighter. Maybe he’s not a pro, but he likes participating in inter-camp and Jakarta competitions. He’s a good fighter. He’s like Alma’s guard dog when Selatan tries to get close to her again.”
How did Ciccio Manassero get into character as Eden?
Ciccio Manassero: “Eden is a figure or a human that isn’t actually too far from Ciccio in real life because, even though I’m not as good as Eden, we both like combat sports, like boxing. I can also say that I am a decent person—I care about my friends. If there is a friend or someone I truly care for, I will take care of them. I am someone who likes to make other people feel safe. From that side, it’s similar to Eden. Eden is more shy, less talkative, and a slow talker. Whereas I am quite friendly.”
What was Ciccio Manassero’s favorite scene?
Ciccio Manassero: “I like all the scenes, but I thought several scenes were good. There’s one time near the end when Eden finds out that the Selatan has disappointed Alma. And I got so angry that I punched Selatan until he was in a coma. In my opinion, that scene was quite challenging. There are several other scenes that I like, such as the scenes with Alma teasing Alma. I like it because the chemistry with Syifa, my younger sister, is good, so I enjoyed playing the role. And in the MMA scenes, the scene sparring with Selatan, where Eden slowly starts to accept Selatan, But I can’t say that there are one or two scenes that are interesting, because, in my opinion, I enjoyed the scenes I acted in this movie, whether it was with Selatan, Syfia, or Mother.”

What are Ciccio Manassero’s habits on set?
Ciccio Manassero: “A few seconds before rolling, I have to close my eyes and try to absorb everything about the scene and how it should be. So, that is the actual way I get into character. The unique things in this movie specifically may be the way I build the chemistry with Alma. I don’t have a younger sister, but I have a cousin who is like a younger sister. Usually, if you are trying to build chemistry with a female co-star, it is usually in the context of a romantic relationship, but this time it is a sibling relationship. And Alma is attached to her brother. Despite everything, Eden cares for his sister. I like my dynamic with Syifa Hadju. I think it’s very fun till the end of shooting.”
