This film focuses on the story of the ghost figure who most challenged Risa and her family’s childhood trauma—Samex—and how her terror led to horror and even death.
On June 11, 2024, all the cast of Jurnal Risa together with MD Pictures collaborated to hold a Press Conference to release the second trailer and poster of the latest film Jurnal Risa by Risa Saraswati. The event was held at Jurnal Risa Cafe, located in central Jakarta, and was attended by the entire team of Journal Risa and the fans. Jurnal Risa the Movie release date is officially announced to be on July 11, 2024.
Well, this movie is all about Samex, watch out!
In addition to Jurnal Risa team that took part in the film, there is also another cast of Jurnal Risa, Prinsa Mandagie. Because Prinsa had mentioned and challenged this figure to attend, Samex started to disturb everyone, including the team of Jurnal Risa, especially since Samex was still a member of Risa Saraswati’s extended family.
The film Jurnal Risa by Risa Saraswati is directed by Rizal Mantovani, who was also present at the Press Conference. In fact, Rizal Mantovani experienced a mystical incident during the filming process, even though he was not as sensitive to spirits as the team of Jurnal Risa.

The following is the response of the Jurnal Risa team and Rizal Mantovani as the film’s director to the official trailer and poster for Jurnal Risa by Risa Saraswati, the challenges during the filming process, as well as the mystical events experienced.
Risa Saraswati: “Finally, we decided to appoint this figure. This is also with our approval and recommendation. The difficulty is because this is still related to our extended family, so like it or not, the permission is not just for the ghost but still involves the family. So, indeed, the permission goes to the extended family. We even get input from them on what it should be like. Before filming, we also went to her grave. So, there really is a grave. What makes us a little scared is how we deal with a figure that really traumatizes us as a family, but we have to face it. In this film, this reckless girl (Prinsa Mandagie) keeps saying the sacred name. So, when I heard Prinsa talk about that, I was like, “Ouch, ouch. Angga, is the ghost here or not?” So, indeed, her figure keeps appearing like that, and I always ask Angga. And there is a message from this ghost (Samex). Yes, in the film, there is an actor who plays her. Then, the real Samex said, “Why not just me?” That’s it.”
Ranggana Purwana (Angga): “This second trailer, when I saw her figure in the film, reminded me of Risa and I’s trauma when we were little. We are afraid to face this figure. It feels like watching the film Jurnal Risa by Risa Saraswati brings back our previous trauma, doesn’t it? But, Bismillah. This figure disappeared some time ago, but when it appeared, it disturbed us, and we reported it to our father. “Father, please help us so the ghost (Samex) doesn’t come again,” I said. However, when I was filming, I asked our father’s permission again: could he be called again to stick with Prinsa? He said yes!” he answered while laughing.
Riana Rizki (Riri): “I felt like this figure was following me, but my husband didn’t believe it. While taking a break, my husband had sleep paralysis. He saw that my face was similar to that figure. Then I woke up and asked, “What’s wrong with you?” He said, “I see that figure on your face!” I said, “You believe me now, right?”
Fahrul Nur Rochman: “So, for those who have watched Fahrul’s YouTube, the figure is at Fahrul’s house. Suddenly she was on top of my cupboard and bent over like that.”
Apart from Risa Saraswati, Riri, and Fahrul, who saw and experienced mystical events during the shooting process of the film Jurnal Risa by Risa Saraswati, the director of this film—Rizal Mantovani—was also affected. Here’s the confession.
Rizal Mantovani: “I didn’t see it, but I heard it. So, at Benteng, when Prinsa summoned that figure, she tried to summon another ghost in Jurnal Risa. When he said Peter’s name, I heard “Peter” when the scene was finished filming. In fact, it wasn’t me who said “cut,” but my assistant because I was stunned when I heard someone whisper “Peter” in my ears. The one I checked was the recordist, and it turned out he heard, while the others didn’t. When I checked, there was a voice coming through. There was one sound that came in and that also appeared in the film during the horror investigation.”

Then, Risa Saraswati and Rizal Mantovani mentioned the challenges during the shooting process of this film. Rizal Mantovani said he salutes Manoj Punjabi as the producer and CEO of MD Entertainment because he had the idea to make this mockumentary. “When I found out about Jurnal Risa, oh, it was perfect. In terms of preparation, when reading the script for the first time, it was a bit strange because the name (Samex) had to be mentioned. Finally, we call it as if we don’t call with a bad purpose or with intensity. That’s what’s interesting,” he said.
Risa Saraswati: “One of the things that was challenging for me when filming this was because it involved my child, who is still small. There are several scenes to be done. At that time, he had to cry. It’s a bit difficult because my child is hyperactive. And it turns out that when he had to cry, he cried because he saw a real ghost. If my siblings or I get stuck or see spirits, we will immediately clean them up. But if it’s a child, I’m really worried. I’m afraid the ghost will keep following my child. Moreover, Dimas once told me that my child had been visited by ghosts too because ghosts really like small children.”
Not only was the Jurnal Risa team affected by horror from the film Jurnal Risa by Risa Saraswati, but director Rizal Mantovani also heard whispers that were recorded on camera.
