Why did Rebecca Klopper want to be part of the project film Ayo Balikan?
Rebecca Klopper: ”For the first time, I did not go through the casting process. I just got offered it. Next, I had a brief reading session. This was probably my fastest project. I immediately got called, did the reading, then immediately shooting.”
How was the character Nathalie you played like?
Rebecca Klopper: “The character Nathalie is a girl who is vocal about her principles. She is quite smart. She is confident and will find whatever she wants. Anyway, she has to get what she wants.”
How did Rebecca Klopper get into character as Nathalie?
Rebecca Klopper: “Because we were tight on time, I couldn’t delve too deep into Nathalie. However, after talking a lot with Mas Rizal during the reading sessions and discussing several times, I managed to get a good grasp of Nathalie. Since the process was quick, we were unclear. But we could play that character, Nathalie, from our detailed reading sessions.”

What does Rebecca Klopper think about Nathalie’s character?
Rebecca Klopper: “I decently like her. In some areas, she’s smart. She knows what’s right and what’s wrong. In the context of her thoughts—mindset, regarding matters that concern her activism—she knows what to do. That’s where you are smart, you’re right. But, maybe it’s a bit messy in terms of love!“
How was your experience being directed by Rizal Mantovani?
Rebecca Klopper: “I’ve actually been directed by Mas Rizal before during COVID and an MD project as well. Here, we meet again and start from the beginning again. This is a movie project, while back then it was just one season of a series at the time. I feel that Mas Rizal is a person who is open to discussion and doesn’t only tell us what to do. He invites us to explore together with him. “According to you, how is this? Does this make sense? Is this weird? What are the emotions so we both feel good and make sense regarding stories and feelings?” Everything was communicated, so I really liked working with Mas Rizal. And his work is generally very good. So, I’m proud to be here.”
What are Rebecca Klopper’s habits on set?
Rebecca Klopper: “There’s nothing really going on because if I don’t take it, I sleep. But we also like to have confiding sessions.”
Were there any additional preparations needed to play the character?
Rebecca Klopper: “There wasn’t much to prepare—emotionally, physically, everything—it didn’t need much. It wasn’t so dramatic that it needed a lot to change. Because Nathalie is actually a normal person, aside from several other things, she’s just a regular student.”
What’s your favorite scene?
Rebecca Klopper: “My favorite set: the villa is very cute, comfortable, and aesthetic. My favorite scene was when I got dumped in front of many people. Even though I played a character, the feeling of it happening was there. So the feeling of being dumped in front of many people is quite shocking. Hopefully, that never happens in real life!”
