Jakarta, May 6, 2024—After releasing several horror and drama films, MD Entertainment shakes the entertainment world this time by releasing a series named “Kawin Tangan,” which will be released on WeTV Indonesia. When will Kawin Tangan broadcast? How many episodes will there be in the series Kawin Tanga? The Kawin Tangan WeTV Indonesia series has a total of 8 episodes and will be broadcast two times a week. The regular users of WeTV, get to watch the series every Friday and Saturday. VIP users will be able to enjoy the Kawin Tangan series a week before scheduled.
Kawin Tangan raises the issue after marriage, specifically, the sexual life between a husband and wife pairing that could happen in real life. This series is directed by Benni Setiawan under the production of MD Entertainment. Apart from being a 17+ story, this series is believed to be an adult series that relates to the lives of many married couples in society. Even more viral, the original Kawin Tangan soundtrack is sung by Adrian Sant with the song title ‘Rapuh’, which can be enjoyed on all digital streaming platforms!
Press Conference WeTV Original Series Kawin Tangan: There Was an Intimacy Coordinator Present during Filming to Keep Every Intimate Scene Relatable to Real Life!
The following is the response of the producer and CEO of MD Entertainment—Manoj Punjabi, all cast, and Lesley Simpson as Country Head of WeTV and Iflix Indonesia—at the WeTV Original Kawin Tangan Press Conference event.
Manoj Punjabi: “ This story can happen, but it is not just relatable; it is extremely relatable. And also the spectacle that if you say this problem can happen all around us. This story isn’t inspired by a true story, but this problem can truly happen, and hopefully can inform and educate how to handle this situation. And besides that, this will be spiced up with an exciting comedy and drama. The certainty when there already is Reza, it will surely be an interesting show. And all the cast—the supporting staff—are very supportive. Here, I see Mikha and Reza have chemistry. Please watch Kawin Tangan on 14 June 2024 in WeTV.”
Lesley Simpson: “Every Friday and Saturday at 6 PM WIB, an episode will air. Firstly, a big thank you to Mr. Manoj for always producing these amazing series. This time, the goal is to always be at the number one spot on WeTV Hot. From the trailer alone, it is already trending. MD will always continue to produce incredible products in collaboration with WeTV. All the cast efforts have shown amazing work ethic, from reading to filming, we are grateful because Indonesia’s movie production methods, efficiency, and results are improving. Let’s try to avoid piracy, so we can enjoy the show legally on the app through WeTV Indonesia. It will be broadcast worldwide at the same time, global premiere—-on June 14, 2024.
Reza Rahadian: “I am very happy to be in this press conference again to provide a new show. I am very happy to meet all my cast friends and collaborate with Mikha, where my co-star is getting younger and younger, and I’m not getting younger. But, it was fun with Mikha, collaborating again with WeTV. Previously, we already had two series which according to me had a big enough audience—there was My Lecturer My Husband, Layangan Putus, and now Kawin Tangan. Hopefully, this can be a Benni Setiawan creation that the audience can enjoy.”
Mikha Tambayong: “This was my first time working with WeTV. It was joyful; it was fun working with WeTV and MD Entertainment. This was my first time with Ka Reza and Ka Arifin. But I am very happy I learned a lot from them and the rest of the cast. This is a story that I have never played before. I hope everyone can enjoy the result.”
Q&A (Question & Answers) Media to the Cast, Manoj Punjabi, and Lesley Simpson—Country Head WeTV and Iflix Indonesia
The following are the questions the media asked the participants at the Press Conference WeTV Original Kawin Tangan event.
Question 1:
- “For Lesley Simpson, why take on such a hot series these days such as Kawin Tangan Series? And because there are adult scenes, can it be enjoyed on all WeTV platforms (devices)?”
Answer:
Lesley Simpson: “For this series, it is for adults, specifically 17+. The theme is mature—marriage. The challenges of marriage are indeed for adults. For the WeTV original “Kawin Tangan,” Mr. Manoj came up with the idea. It is interesting because this issue is important. Statistically, apparently, many marriages have a similar issue as shown here. This can be watched on your respective devices as it is far more personal. You can find it on WeTV and can watch it while commenting together. Since it is for ages over 17, there will be a function in the application that restrict under 17 years old so they can’t watch, so kids are protected from several scenes that are not appropriate for their age.”
Question 2:
- “For Mikha Tambayong and Reza Rahadian, how did you create that chemistry as a husband and wife pair? After seeing the trailer and there are hot scenes, how do you communicate with each partner?”
Answers:
Reza Rahadian: “When it comes to building chemistry, I never have any formula. Mikha and I talked and got to know each other, but that’s it. I feel comfortable discussing things with Mikha And in this project. We have an intimacy coordinator whose role is to protect and look over all scenes that have physical aspects and other aspects. Next, all scenes, regardless of the aspects, must have consent, not only for Mikha but for me as well. What is comfortable, and what is not. So filming was very easy. As for getting permission from a partner, I get permission from myself, so there’s no issue. I’m sure Mikha has no problem either since her husband is my best friend.”
Mikha Tambayong: “I am also very thankful to the team for providing an intimacy coordinator because before shooting, we discussed with everyone involved. When we were filming, it was very private and not showcased to others. So that it aligns with our comfort levels. I felt comfortable and respected. It was nice and smooth. Reza was very open, we discussed everything on and off-set. As for permission from my partner—when taking on a project, there are many things to consider—not just the scenes but also the story and produced. My husband is also an actor, so he understands. Even before we got married, we had our own work and careers. So my husband respects my decisions. Everything is discussed. There’s nothing burdensome because we discuss everything.”
Question 3:
- “For Lesley Simpson, will this series be free or VIP?”
- “For Manoj Punjabi, it seems that recently you have been focusing on horror works for films and marriage dramas for series. Will MD highlight more of these marriage dramas in the future?”
Answers:
Manoj Punjabi: “For our series, it can be said there is a theme, but the genres are different. We have teen series like Geri, Antares, Layangan Putus, My Lecturer My Husband—these all have a variety of themes ranging from family, drama, and even adult themes, but typically for audiences in their late 20s. This concept aligns well with MD. For horror, we only have Jurnal Risa as a series. Actually, on WeTV, there are no horror series. Maybe we’ll be more active in this area moving forward. I am against sticking to one genre. But, from MD’s track record, there is drama, horror, and variation. The only thing left is action. Just wait for the play date because if you take action genre, it must be really high quality.”
Lesley Simpson: “For the scheduling in WeTV, all series can be watched for free until they are finished. All series follow a schedule. If a series is scheduled to show on Friday and Saturday at 6 in the evening, the free users will follow the schedule. VIP users can watch it a week early for free.So, the viewing schedule is tailored to each age group. Subscriptions on WeTV cost Rp.39.000, but if there is a promotion, they can be cheaper.”

- “For Manoj Punjabi, was the Reza-Mikha duo selected carefully? Is Reza Rahadian iconic with marriage series?”
- For Lesley Simpson, was the release of Kawin Tangan WeTV intentionally released in line with WeTV’s 5th year anniversary?”
Answers:
Lesley Simpson: “There are so many MD projects, but thank you for the collaboration with MD, which always brings great entertainment to Indonesian audiences. The variation in genre is diverse enough with the likes of teen and adult genres. We also made a remake of Cinta Fitri. We also have religious themes like Satu Amin Dua Iman. So, of course, our journey at WeTV with MD has been very good.”
Manoj Punjabi: “The reason Reza is iconic is not just for roles like this; he was our first choice! The title and concept are already interesting. When I was told about this story, I found it interesting. We then pitched this concept to WeTV, and they immediately agreed, especially with the casting. From the start, we thought of Reza, and I immediately agreed. We proposed Mikha, a fresh combination. So, we don’t want to use the same cast again. I don’t think it had to be Reza or anyone specific. If you notice, MD always brings new colors in new cast combinations, so there is a variety also. We don’t want to stereotype. We agreed not to focus solely on something because it’s currently popular. That’s never been our mindset. We’re more objective, thinking, why not?”
