The Laura film, produced by MD Pictures and Dapur Film, is finally streaming on Netflix starting Friday, January 10, 2025. Previously, the film Laura attracted a total of 1,261,521 viewers since its release in theaters on September 12, 2024, until it was taken off the screen.
The film, based on the true story of the late Instagram celebrity Laura Anna’s struggle after an accident with her boyfriend, was directed by the renowned Hanung Bramantyo, who was successful with the phenomenal film “Ipar adalah Maut” last year.
Laura is portrayed excellently by Amanda Rawles, who successfully brings to life the cheerful social media star, sending shivers down the spine.
Amanda Rawles herself recounted having met Laura Anna in a dream while filming the movie Laura. She admitted to dreaming about the late actress the day after the first day of filming.
“I dreamt of Laura after the first day of filming, because during the filming process, we used Laura’s real wheelchair, used Laura’s real doll. And that night (after filming) I went home, slept, and then dreamt of Laura visiting me, and she looked really beautiful wearing a white dress,” said Amanda at the Gala Premiere of the film Laura at Epicentrum XXI Jakarta, Monday (9/9/2024).
The woman born in 2000 recounted that she also tried to introduce herself to Laura’s figure because they had never met before.
“So that was the first time I met Laura in a dream. I felt she was very welcoming and the meeting felt very warm. One thing that is clear, that I remember (in the dream) is that Laura is no longer sick,” she said.
For those of you who missed watching the Laura movie in theaters, now the story of the influencer’s struggle against paralysis and decubitus disease can be watched on Netflix.
Synopsis of the Laura Film
The film Laura carries the theme “A True Story of A True Fighter” and tells the story of Laura Anna’s struggle to rise from the depths after a car accident. The drama presented includes the sibling relationship between Laura and Iren (Carissa Perusset) as well as the toxic relationship between Laura and her manipulative boyfriend, Jojo (Kevin Ardilova).
At first, Jojo seemed like a romantic and kind boyfriend. However, over time, his true nature began to show, as he liked to exploit Laura financially and played the victim.
Jojo is portrayed as a lover who exploits Laura for economic gain. One time, he drove Laura home from the nightclub while drunk. As a result, the couple got into a fatal accident, leaving Laura paralyzed.
However, Jojo refuses to take responsibility and does not feel guilty. He always claims to be a fellow accident victim and is reluctant to pay for Laura’s medical expenses.
The drama continues to highlight the ups and downs of Laura’s relationship with Jojo; the support of Laura’s family and close friends as caregivers; and Laura’s struggle to rise from adversity.
Laura successfully became the 12th Indonesian film to surpass 1 million viewers in 2024.
