Showing in All Indonesian Cinemas on Eid 2025
Jakarta, February 20, 2024 – MD Pictures, an MD Entertainment Company (IDX: FILM), proudly releases the official poster of the film ‘PABRIK GULA’ directed by Awi Suryadi and starring talented actors such as Arbani Yasiz, Ersya Aurelia, Erika Carlina, Bukie B. Mansyur, Wavi Zihan, and many more. The film ‘PABRIK GULA’ will be released on EID 2025.
Official Poster 1 of the film ‘PABRIK GULA’ displays a magnificent yet mysterious visual. In a dark atmosphere filled with mystical impressions, the silhouette of a bride and groom in a palanquin is visible, carried and paraded by a group of bare-chested men in a sugarcane wedding procession. The procession moves slowly among the expanse of sugarcane fields, towards a sugar factory standing in the distance, shrouded in smoke and the dim light of the full moon. With a tense atmosphere and meaningful ritual details, this poster builds curiosity about the terror hidden behind the traditions and dark history of the sugar factory.
This film was produced by Manoj Punjabi and inspired by the true stories of sugar factory workers from the Dutch era that have been raised by Simpleman. ‘PABRIK GULA’ reunites Manoj Punjabi, Awi Suryadi, Lele Laila, and Simpleman, who previously had success with the phenomenal film KKN DI DESA PENARI – which became the highest-grossing Indonesian film of all time when it was released in 2022. Anticipation for ‘PABRIK GULA’ is very high, with a production scale that promises to present a mysterious and scary story behind the history of the Sugar Factory.
SYNOPSIS OF THE SUGAR FACTORY
Endah, Fadhil, Dwi, Hendra, Wati, Ningsih, and Franky leave with dozens of other people for a sugar factory to become seasonal workers. Every year the sugar factory employs people from surrounding villages to speed up the sugar cane grinding process during the harvest season. At first everything went normally without any strangeness, until one night, Endah woke up and left the dormitory where she was staying to follow a mysterious figure. Since that night, the workers began to experience increasing terror, starting from a work accident that befell one of them, to the tragic death of a worker in the back well. Then it was revealed that the factory was adjacent to the kingdom of demons, something had made the demons angry so that now they were demanding the lives of the workers.
