Pakde Khair—the figure of Pakde (uncle) from Hanif and Isti, unexpectedly came back to life after being declared dead in his house. Pakde Khair lives alone in his house and is currently experiencing the death throes. At this moment, he called out Hanif and Isti’s names repeatedly.

Finally, Hanif and Isti returned to Pakde’s house with the hope that Pakde Khair could leave this world peacefully. And indeed, after meeting Hanif and Isti, Pakde Khair took his last breath.

However, strange occurrences began when Hanif and Isti saw the spirit of Pakde reappear. One of their aunts also said that Pakde Khair had died several times, but strangely, he always came back to life without knowing the reason.

As a result, Pakde Khair’s spirit continues to haunt Hanif and Isti. Now, they must uncover the intricacies of all the oddities happening in their family.

Pakde Khair, portrayed by Egi Fedly in the film Sorop, can be said to be the mysterious key figure. Does his resurrection signify that something dark is about to threaten the lives of Hanif, Isti, and their remaining family? Or something else?

The film Sorop is adapted from a thread on X published by SimpleMan in 2020 titled ‘Sorop: Gethi Sing Kentel, Ing Jerone Telak.’ This story went viral, partly because it was based on a true story.

Sorop is derived from Javanese, meaning ‘maghrib time’ or ‘evening time,’ when supernatural beings begin to roam and instill fear in anyone they desire.

In addition to this term, there is also something called ‘puasa sorop.’ It is not like the usual fasting, but rather fasting with the intention of reuniting with the deceased. This type of fasting has been practiced since the colonial era. But, it turns out, in modern times, there are still those who allegedly misuse this fast.

The mystery of ‘sorop‘ and ‘puasa sorop‘ will be explained in the film Sorop, which can be watched in theaters starting December 19, 2024! Also follow MD Pictures’ social media to stay updated on the latest news about MD films.
