There is something interesting about the original soundtrack of the film Perewangan, which has been released on October 24, 2024. If horror movie songs usually come across as gloomy and frightening, it’s different with “Permata Hati” written by Arini Kumara, one of the members of ArumtaLa. Instead of being scary, this jazz-infused song sung by Junio Fernandez is actually suitable for a romantic moment with our partner.
The song “Permata Hati” tells the story of someone’s longing to meet their beloved. Unfortunately, distance and time have not yet permitted their meeting. However, Arini did not reveal what separated the pair of lovers who were in the throes of love. The listeners are left to imagine their own experiences.
If we watch the film, Perewangan indeed does not just present the horror experiences of its characters, but also briefly touches on their romantic and family dramas.
In this film, the song “Permata Hati” is played when Roni (Septian Dwi Cahyo) returns home after years of being treated in a mental hospital. He then released his longing with his wife, Nyai Sudarsih (Ully Triani), while dancing intimately in the room—out of sight of their two children.
Junio’s deep voice, which was once active in the church choir, indeed sounds magical and intimate, perfectly suited for singing Arini’s composition. Added to the tinkling of the piano by Jason Limanjaya and the drumming by Nicolaus Praditya, this song is not only suitable as the background music for the meeting of Roni and Sudarsih, but also for anyone’s wedding celebration.
