MD Pictures is proud to announce the release of the second official poster and teaser trailer for its latest horror film, Tenung by Risa Saraswati & Dimasta, on Wednesday (April 30, 2025). Directed by Rizal Mantovani, the film tells the chilling story of unrelenting terror that befalls a family after their mother returns from the brink of death.
The press conference held at MD Place was filled with excitement from invited guests. A warm atmosphere enveloped the room as the second poster and official teaser trailer were unveiled for the first time.
Tenung is adapted from the novel of the same name written by Risa Saraswati and Dimas Tri Aditiyo. Interestingly, Risa shared during the event that the novel actually began as a wedding gift between her and her husband.
“Originally, Tenung was a wedding souvenir from me and Dimas. We took turns writing chapter by chapter. For me, Tenung is something very personal and special,” said Risa Saraswati.
The film stars Aisyah Aqilah, Seroja Hafiedz, Emir Mahira, Sonia Alyssa, Humaira Jahra, Roby Tremonti, and Andi Bersama. Embracing the mystical horror genre, Tenung not only delivers spine-tingling mythological terror but also a deeply emotional family drama.
“Tenung is very different — it explores a real family conflict. What sets it apart is how it’s layered with one of the oldest myths in Indonesia: what happens if someone who has died is leapt over by a black cat? That’s a new concept I haven’t seen before, and it’s explored here in Tenung,” explained director Rizal Mantovani.
The second official poster of Tenung shows a woman in a terrifying moment, strangled by dark hands coming from all directions. Set against a blazing red backdrop of fire, the poster captures an atmosphere of dread and the film’s intense supernatural terror.
The teaser trailer delivers tension from the very first second, opening with a child suspecting something strange about their mother, who has just come back from the dead. Her blank stare, disturbing behavior, and unsettling aura all point to a horrifying truth, she may have fallen victim to a powerful curse.
The trailer unfolds with a sequence of eerie scenes: glimpses of dark rituals, the mother sitting in eerie silence in front of a broken TV, and a chilling voice revealing that the curse’s sender must ensure the victim is dead and buried in order to be offered as a sacrifice to the devil.
The teaser ends with a haunting image of dozens of shadowy hands emerging from the darkness, hinting at an invisible terror ready to drag anyone into the deadly curse of Tenung.
Tenung is set to premiere across cinemas in Indonesia on June 5, 2025. Astrid Suryatenggara, Chief Communication Officer of MD Entertainment, expressed her confidence in the film’s impact and appeal.
“MD never does anything halfway. I’m really looking forward to seeing Tenung on the big screen because this is an extraordinary project with Risa Saraswati,” Astrid said.

Synopsis
Ira lives with her mother, Linda. One day, without any rational explanation, a mystical incident causes Linda to behave like a madwoman—suffering physically and frequently hallucinating. Unable to cope with her mother’s condition, Ira asks her siblings, Ara and Ari, to come home and help take care of their mother. Unfortunately, fate has other plans, and Linda eventually passes away.
On the day of her funeral, Linda’s corpse is jumped over by a black cat, and supernaturally, she comes back to life. In the early days of her second life, Linda seems like a completely different person—she becomes a loving mother to her three children. But sadly, this doesn’t last long. Linda begins to terrorize her own children.
Eventually, the cause of all these strange events is revealed: a curse was cast upon Linda, and it has allowed a demon to possess her—with the goal of wiping out her entire bloodline.
