Jakarta, April 10, 2025 – MD Pictures, an MD Entertainment Company (IDX: FILM), has officially released the Teaser Poster for the upcoming horror film “TENUNG by Risa Saraswati & Dimasta,” directed by Indonesian horror maestro Rizal Mantovani, and starring acclaimed actors Aisyah Aqilah, Emir Mahira, and Seroja Hafiedz. The film is adapted from the novel by Risa Saraswati and Dimas Tri Aditiyo, and is set to premiere in cinemas across Indonesia starting June 5, 2025.
Following the success of the iconic Danur Universe, TENUNG marks Risa Saraswati’s return to the world of horror films, this time with a darker and more mature story. Together with her husband, Dimas Tri Aditiyo, Risa presents a narrative that explores the sinister depths of mystical forces.
The teaser poster for TENUNG evokes a chilling atmosphere: a black cat stands atop a corpse against a deep red background. The cat is not only a mystical symbol but also a harbinger of doom. The visual hints that every curse—every tenung—comes with consequences that cannot be avoided.
TENUNG is adapted from the novel of the same title, first published in January 2019. The book received an overwhelming response from Risa Saraswati’s loyal fans and local horror enthusiasts, who have long admired her works such as Danur, Maddah, and Asih. The TENUNG film is expected to continue the success of the Danur Universe, offering a fresh storyline that still carries Risa’s signature supernatural tone—this time with deeper symbolism and a more profound emotional impact.
Premiering in cinemas on June 5, 2025, TENUNG will take audiences into the darkest realms of inner power and the dire consequences of forbidden magic.
SYNOPSIS of ‘TENUNG By Risa Saraswati & Dimasta’
Ira lives with her mother, Linda. One day, without any rational explanation, a mystical incident causes Linda to behave like a madwoman—suffering physically and frequently hallucinating. Unable to cope with her mother’s condition, Ira asks her siblings, Ara and Ari, to come home and help take care of their mother. Unfortunately, fate has other plans, and Linda eventually passes away.
On the day of her funeral, Linda’s corpse is jumped over by a black cat, and supernaturally, she comes back to life. In the early days of her second life, Linda seems like a completely different person—she becomes a loving mother to her three children. But sadly, this doesn’t last long. Linda begins to terrorize her own children.
Eventually, the cause of all these strange events is revealed: a curse was cast upon Linda, and it has allowed a demon to possess her—with the goal of wiping out her entire bloodline.
