Yasamin Jasem made a shocking confession during an interview for her latest film with MD Pictures, Sorop, which will be released in theaters starting December 19, 2024. Yasamin Jasem was kidnapped by her co-star, Hana Malasan, during filming in Banyuwangi, she confessed.

This was conveyed by Yasamin during an interview with CGV on December 16. In the film Sorop, Hana Malasan plays the character Hanif, while Yasamin plays his younger sister, Isti.

Because Yasamin is an only child, to build a bond between the two of them so their acting would be natural, Hana Malasan “kidnapped” Yasamin to stay overnight together at a hotel.

“I usually find it hard to stay overnight at someone’s house right away. Even with my friends, I only stayed over maybe a year after we got to know each other before I dared to stay,” Yasamin said.

“This is the first time we arrived in Banyuwangi, I was already kidnapped. So we slept in the same room.” I accompanied Kak Hana for her morning meditation,” she continued while laughing.

Although Yasamin has played sibling roles before, she admitted that in the film Sorop, it was somewhat different from usual. Because the character Isti is depicted as very clingy with her only brother, Hanif.

In the story of the film Sorop, Hanif and Isti are orphans who live together in Surabaya. It’s only natural that their relationship is very close, because they both feel they only have each other.

Hana Malasan also admitted that she had to “kidnap” Yasamin Jasem during the filming process to build chemistry.

“But thankfully, from the beginning, Yasamin had no walls at all, so it was very easy to build a bond. It just flowed naturally. So even until now, we are still very close. She’s such a sweet child,” said Hana Malasan at the gala premiere of the film Sorop, Friday (13/12/2024). “Until now, we are still very close. Eating together,” she continued.

Hana also said she was quite moved after finishing the filming of the movie Sorop. The reason was that Yasamin Jasem wrote a farewell letter to her.

“Because the crew and cast were very, very enjoyable, whatever mental burdens we faced after filming felt lighter,” Hana revealed to CGV.

The film Sorop, directed by Upi, is inspired by the unfinished thread by SimpleMan. Sorop tells the story of two siblings, Hanif (Hana Malasan) and Isti (Yasamin Jasem), who suddenly move into a haunted house with a terror that constantly haunts them.

Their story begins when their aunt asks them to return to their hometown to visit their sick and dying uncle.

Hanif and Isti were shocked by the death of their uncle, which happened right before their eyes. After the uncle’s death, mystical terror began to occur and haunt the house. They could even see the deceased uncle come back to life. On the other hand, they also discovered the strange habit of their aunt who often ate graveyard soil.

Various abnormal events they experienced made the two siblings remember what happened in their childhood. Finally, Hanif and Isti must unravel the mystery related to their past.

What is in that house? What did their uncle do during his lifetime? All the answers are revealed in the film Sorop.

MD Pictures is also collaborating with Barunson E&A and EST N8, the production company behind the Oscar-winning film Parasite, for the international sales of the film Sorop, which will be launched at the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) in Busan.
