Bringing Indonesia’s Blockbuster Legacy to the Global Stage


JAKARTA, INDONESIA – 15th March 2024, MD Pictures is delighted to announce its partnership with Lionsgate for the exclusive distribution of Badarawuhi di Desa Penari (Dancing Village: The Curse Begins), the highly anticipated prequel to Indonesia’s highest grossing movie of all time, KKN Curse of the Dancing Village.


MD Pictures is also proud to disclose that Badarawuhi di Desa Penari (Dancing Village: The Curse Begins) is the first filmed for IMAX movie ever produced in Southeast Asia. In 2024, it is one of only five filmed for IMAX productions worldwide. Consistently at the forefront of the local industry, MD Pictures, together with Lionsgate’s sterling worldwide record in distribution, promises to push the frontiers further.


In celebration of this title and a newfound partnership, Lionsgate will host the US premiere of Badarawuhi di Desa Penari (Dancing Village: The Curse Begins) on April 4th, 2024, in Los Angeles. This premiere signifies a huge milestone in MD’s mission to showcase Indonesian movies on the international stage.
