The film Dancing Village The Curse Begins (Badarawuhi di Desa Penari) was directed by Kimo Stamboel with cast Aulia Sarah, Maudy Effrosina, Jourdy Pranata, Dinda Kanyadewi, Claresta Taufan, M. Iqbal Sulaiman, Ardit Erwandha, Aming, Diding Boneng, and Maryam Supraba. MD Pictures is collaborating with IMAX and Lionsgate to distribute this film not only in Indonesia but also in America and other countries.
Successfully setting a record, the film Badarawuhi di Desa Penari became the first film in Southeast Asia to be shown in IMAX. Not only that, the collaboration with Lionsgate made this film the first Indonesian film to be able to collaborate with an American-based film production and distribution house, so the film Dancing Village The Curse Begins (Badarawuhi di Desa Penari) was shown in America with the global title “Dancing Village: The Curse Begins.”
Dancing Village The Curse Begins is a prequel to the best-selling film of all time, KKN di Desa Penari. This film tells the story of Mila, a girl who comes to Penari Village to find a way to cure her mother’s illness. Instead of finding a way to cure her mother who is seriously ill, Mila actually meets Badarawuhi, a demonic figure who rules Penari Village and puts her life at risk.
Will Mila be able to get out of the clutches of Badarawuhi who wants her to become a “dawuh” (a dancer who has to dance forever to entertain the ghosts)? So, did Mila’s mother recover completely?
