The film Sorop SimpleMan will be released in all Indonesian cinemas on December 19, 2024, and is the closing film of 2024 from MD Pictures. Adapted from the SimpleMan Sorop thread, this film tells the story of Hanif and Isti (sisters) who are haunted by invisible terror in their home. Additionally, the burial ground and the sorop fasting also become focal points in the film Sorop.
Not only that, Sorop is the debut collaboration between director Upi and MD Pictures. All the cast members were enthusiastic, especially Hana Malasan, Yasamin Jasem, Egi Fedly, and Ratu Felisha, whose performances in this film successfully attracted positive attention from netizens. Synopsis of the Film Sorop SimpleMan
Inspired by the viral horror thread by SimpleMan on X, Sorop sends shivers down the spine. Sorop itself means the time of Maghrib. (the time when supernatural beings began to appear in the human world and disturb us). Sorop fasting, which is also highlighted in this film, means fasting by eating graveyard soil with the aim of summoning the spirits of the deceased.

It starts with one of the aunts of the siblings, Hanif and Isti, who suddenly ask them to return to their hometown to see their uncle. It turns out, Pakde Khair is in the throes of death and keeps calling out Hanif and Isti’s names.
Whether they liked it or not, Hanif and Isti went to their childhood home to meet Pakde Khair. Sure enough, after meeting their uncle, Pakde Khair passed away immediately. However, Pakde Khair’s death was not that brief. Pakde Khair rose again from the dead!
Upon investigation, their aunt told them that Pakde Khair could never truly die, because each time, Pakde Khair would always rise again as if from a deep sleep.
While living in that house, Hanif and Isti tried to uncover the strange occurrences and began to terrorize their lives.
Various strange incidents occurred. Starting from Hanif and Isti often finding their aunt eating graveyard soil, to almost being brought to death.
Hanif and Isti slowly began to unveil the mystery related to their past. Their childhood home no longer felt like a home, but rather an endless torment. They must finish everything before it’s too late.
